There is a continuing question of leadership, a moral compass & past performance that needs to be addressed in the Sheriff Department.
Today Captain Cary Madrigal court hearing to seal her service record within the Sheriff's office was denied by Judge Gasiorkiewicz.
Denied !
The judge spent more than 40 minutes quoting previous court rulings weighing a balancing test before announcing his decision.
The court stated there were 3 disciplinary Sheriff records against the individual Captain Cary Madrigal subject to open records.
The disciplinary years listed by Judge Gasiorkiewicz were in 2006, 2012 & 2025 and the redacted records would be lifted in 20 days pending Captain Cary does not file an appeal.
Press may have played a part in the Judge's Open Records decision, TV channels 4 & 6 were two stations present along with the Racine County Eye.
3 concerned citizens who regularly monitor the courts were also present to scrutinize court proceedings.
Numerous open records were filed into the Sheriff office seeking Captain Cary's service records so the public can make informed choices.
Captain Cary tried to seal those service records from public scrutiny.

The Racine County Sheriff Department is in disarray:
Allegations of Sheriff Schmaling living in Florida, thefts from the evidence department, illegal use of recovered stolen goods, the list go on and on under Captain Cary's watch.
